A vast orange star with broad, turbulent cells across its surface.

Give the giant a little time. Material breaks away from its outer light and drifts into the surrounding dark.

The Shedding Giant

From a distance, the colossus looked permanent. Close observation told another story: pieces of its outer light slipped away and faded into the dark. The crew began measuring the journey in departures instead of arrivals.
